Description

The perceived definition of beauty has changed so many times throughout history, various body image portrayals dominating popular culture ranging from sexy as heavy to sexy as skinny and all in between. How do we adjust our eyes to see ourselves outside of all the projections? I believe it was James Joyce who spoke about true art having the power to take any thing and suspend it in a frame that blocks out all preconceived definitions making us experience the thing as if for the first time. We all see life through our own kaleidoscope, from race to class to beauty to good to bad, stereotypical descriptors placed on ourselves and each other as stagnant masks concealing the true beings within. Morphing beings, aging, evolving, fluctuating, never stagnant. The observer changes the data so how can I ever truly see you let alone myself? Perhaps I must be present to what is, to resist the natural reaction of my brain categorizing and assuming, rewiring my perception to witness in a more clear state.

In this episode, we explore the relationship of our minds to our physical bodies through the mirrors of our modern world. And now let's reflect ourselves through our host, Zachary Murdock, as he explores these themes along with our special guest, director, photographer and contemporary fine artist, Kalos.
