Our special guest, Britni Cannon, MS, LPC, is the Director of Learning and Development at Symetria Learning, and she is joining us to discuss the connection of diversity, equity, and inclusion to mental health.
In this episode, we look at our identity through the layers of diversity and the importance of connection to others like us. Britni highlights how the lack of recognition of our uniqueness causes stressors that lead to isolation decreasing productivity and engagement.
Guest Bio:
Britni is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Britni graduated from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas with a Master of Science in Counseling and Development. Britni earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Britni's experiences include non-profit organizations, private practice, domestic violence agencies, public schools, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Currently, Britni works as Director of Learning & Development for Symetria Recovery.
Britni believes building a trusting and comfortable relationship is the first step in the healing journey. Bringing warmth and compassion to each of her clients, she allows individuals to feel safe exploring deep and often challenging issues.
Britni lives in McKinney, TX, with her family. Britni enjoys reading, baking, painting, and walking each and every single aisle at Target, but most of her free time is spent at her sons’ games.
