Meet Veronica Torres Hazley and Melissa Alfaro, the visionaries, and founders of Hey Chica! based in Dallas, Texas. In this episode, we delve into their leadership empowerment for Hispanic women and those of other heritages to help them thrive in every area of their lives. Find out the motivation for these women to authentically create a sisterhood collective to promote opportunities for elevation and visibility. They consciously decided to uplift others while eradicating the mean girl mentality and embracing self-acceptance as the foundation of this life-changing initiative.   

Guest Bios  
Veronica Torres Hazley is the CEO of Torres Hazley Enterprise. A collective bringing community and well-being to life. Her portfolio includes V12 Yoga Studio, Workplace Fit Co and self-care brand, Healthy Latina Lifestyle. Veronica has expanded her reach with her consultant practice that ties her last 25 years of experience in several capacities that include: community development, customer service, content curation, cause marketing and wellness.  Prior to leading Torres Hazley Enterprise full time, Veronica served as the Chief Impact Officer with ISP Creative, an Irving based Creative House.  Veronica also spent 17 years with VisitDallas that include working in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Digital Marketing and Branding and most recently as the Director of Experience. Her role with VisitDallas had a strong focus on developing partnerships in the local Dallas community. 

Veronica is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She also pursued her degree in Business Administration at the University of Texas at Dallas. She currently serves on the For Oakcliff board, Grant Halliburton and is an active member of Hispanic 100. Veronica is also the founder of Hey Chica! By Healthy Latina Lifestyle- a Latina Leadership Collective. A movement for chicas looking to collaborate with their fellow community leaders, advocates, and influencers to curate their dream goals with passion and gusto! 

Melissa Alfaro, is a founding member of Hey Chica! Originally from the Westside of San Antonio, TX, Melissa Alfaro is the proud daughter and granddaughter of migrant farmworkers and was the first in her family to receive a college degree. Melissa graduated with her Bachelor of Arts from American University in Washington, D.C.. During her time in our nation’s Capital, Melissa worked in the communications departments in the U.S. House of Representatives under Congressman Pete Gallego and in the Democratic National Committee (DNC). 

In 2015, Melissa moved back to Texas to work on creating a pipeline of elected Latino leaders as Director of Programs for the Latino Center for Leadership Development in Dallas, TX.  Between campaign cycles, Melissa has worked in the offices of various Texas State Representatives. During her time in the State Legislature, Melissa led emergency response efforts for underserved communities and worked to pass legislation improving maternal health outcomes, combating human trafficking, and increasing oversight of state agencies. Melissa now serves as a District Director for U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey, working every day to get critical resources to the DFW community.
