On the podcast this time, Steven and Sean are strapping into our finest leather body armor and getting ready to kill some vampires. This time, we watched the Stephen Norrington film from 1998, Blade.
I don’t think I ever would have guessed that politics would play such an integral role in the lives of vampires, but I keep getting proven wrong. This film, What We Do In the Shadows, and heck, even in Twilight there’s always a top council of vampires.
One would think that near immortality and extreme strength would lend itself toward more anarchy, but these vamps just can’t help but be political.
And yet, they can never foresee or stop an avenging character like Blade. For all their puttering around and talking across long tables, they all end up getting messed up by some daywalking force of vengeance.
I think the moral of this story is that vampires, while powerful and occasionally sexy, aren’t able to think outside the box. I hope this won’t come back to bite me one day, pun very much intended, but vampires are kinda dumb.
