This episode deviates from our standard format.  To present a linear topic in an equally linear manner, Stuart goes solo and takes a step-by-step approach to presenting the components of developing SMART Employee Performance Objectives.  Rachel will re-join us in the next two segments, which are recorded separately and identified as "THE DEEP DIVE." 

Key Components:

• Stuart explains why he thinks that at least some form of job analysis can be a critical component of developing SMART performance objectives
• He then explains why you should not automatically assume that the official job description is a ready-made resource for developing objectives
• SMART = Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely
• Stuart also defines and explains such common terms related to performance objectives as:  element, task, objective, and essential/critical
