Description

Sol Broady, Founder and CEO of Leilo, calm in a can ™ is a beverage made from the kava plant grown in the Pacific islands. For centuries Islanders have used kava as a social beverage, ceremonial offering, and traditional medicine.

Sol created Leilo after traveling to the south coast of Fiji in 2018, where he befriended a local and immersed himself in the local culture. During his trip Sol was introduced to kava at a traditional ceremonial gathering and was “blown away” by its efficacy. Sol began his research of kava; finding it has five main properties as a pain reliever, muscle relaxant, antidepressant, anti-insomniac, and even more intriguing as a cognitive booster. Based on his findings he began his journey to share kava beyond the South Pacific shores.

In this episode you'll hear about its uses, from helping athletes build muscle to assisting in the healing power of sleep, as well as the potential future therapeutic directions. This episode will interest those curious about alternative ways to relax instead of using alcohol with the added benefits of rejuvenation.

Episode Highlights:

02:40 Sol's background and heritage
06:47 The effects of kava and Sol's mission
13:22 Medicinal properties of kava
21:34 The controversy
32:20 Leilo - the origin of it's name
