In this episode you'll hear Warren Brown share his story from childhood to litigation lawyer to baker. He is the owner of Countertop Productions, Inc. a boutique manufacturer of innovative packaged snacks. He is an entrepreneur at heart with an unconventional career path that embodies what it means to pursue one’s passion.
Warren was a federal litigator for the Department of Health and Human Services before he opened CakeLove, a bakery specializing in cakes and cupcakes that he operated from 2002 to 2016. Warren's experience transitioning from lawyer to baker generated national media attention. He has been featured by local and national media including The Oprah Winfrey Show, People, The Today Show, The Washington Post, National Public Radio, Fox News, Inc. magazine and more.
He hosted two seasons of Sugar Rush on the Food Network from 2005-2007.
He is the author of four cookbooks where he shares his baking secrets: CakeLove, United Cakes of America, CakeLove in the Morning and Pie Love. Currently Warren pours his innovative spirit into his line of energy snacks: “Spark Bites.” He also makes and markets a line of cake jars: “Don’t Forget Cake.” Both product lines are available online, locally, and at major retailers including Amazon, CVS, Walmart, Stop & Shop, and Giant Foods.
No stranger to passion projects, Warren is self-publishing a sci-fi, psychological thriller series that brings his multidisciplinary background together in intriguing ways.
Warren graduated from Brown University in 1993 with a BA in History and then George Washington University in 1998 with a Juris Doctor and Masters in Public Health. He lives in Maryland with his wife and two daughters.
