From Edward Palermo -  Criminal law trials end in a verdict of guilty or not guilty. There are however cases where the court decides to not give a verdict. These are called mistrials. These are mistrials, which are inadvertently void trials. A judge can stop legal proceedings if there are grounds to do so. Before a verdict can become public, a motion for a mistrial has to be filed. A judge will determine if a mistrial occurred.
