In Episode 15, Rachel shares her experience with secondary infertility and what she’s learned about healing, health, and hormones.
In This Episode on Secondary Infertility: Healing, Health, & Hormones:
- Secondary Infertility
- Rachel had a traumatic c-section experience. The birth trauma from that event rolled into a very real fear that something was wrong.
- In 2020, Rachel and her husband decided they were ready to expand their family.
- After 7 to 8 months on trying, she started to feel very concerned since she had gotten pregnant quickly with her previous two children. This was when she started to recognize secondary infertility.
- She struggled with the feelings of losing something that she once had. She often felt like Jacob during this time as she wrestled with God. But in this valley, she also learned how to trust the Lord.
- Rachel went to see a fertility doctor and he confirmed that her bicornuate uterus was a unicorn! Rachel discovered that she could only get pregnant from one side of her uterus. This is when she realized what a miracle her previous children were, but also left her feeling frustrated by her uterine anomaly.
- In the background, the Lord was aligning all the right people in her life. Rachel’s friend Paula, who is an amazing woman of God and registered dietician, wanted to help her.
- She decided to take a Dutch hormone test and learned that there was a hormone imbalance and a few other issues. She spent the next few months focusing on healing.
