In this episode, we speak with Brittany Overton, the step madre to Romi’s little girl, Frankie, where she shares her story of how she said EFF IT to stepping into the role of Frankie’s bonus mom. It’s hard enough for kids to have their parents divorce. But, the parents and their partners play a big role in how hard or easy that transition can be. Brittany, Romi and the rest of their family have chosen to work together to provide a loving family for Frankie because all they want for her is to feel loved and be happy. You just have to effing think about the kids on the other side of these situations, so don’t take the situation lightly. And, following the kids’ lead and being supportive to them are the best things you can do because they have a voice and deserve respect as much as anyone else. If you are interested in reading books on brain development in children, Brittany suggest, The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child’s Developing Mind.
