Have you ever dreamed of spending hours beneath the sea? Of taking in all of it's wonders, unencumbered by equipment, clothes and a day job? Or of swimming like a dolphin...in a man-made tank...competing for a merperson world title?
This is the tale (yes, pun) of an ocean child, who grew to be a free diver, who turned into a mermaid. Not just for personal pleasure but professionally. Dominique Abraham, Founder of Apnea Art, competed alongside the global school of merpeople at the World Mermaid Championships, educated hundreds of children about ocean conservation and trained many a merperson to wield their tail, defying, through relaxation, the strongest urge of all - the urge to breathe.
But is it all playful frolicking and shells on boobs or are there high stakes for humans who decide that where they most like to be is under the sea?
