In this podcast I am focusing on 7 different ways you can improve yourself, your focus on your career/job, your overall approach to life, or really anything you are working at in life.
I am a huge fan of constantly seeking little improvements here or there. Little 1% gains consistently achieved can, over time, grow into some major gains. It is in that spirit that I record this podcast, focusing on 7 different time-tested approaches based on neuroscience, psychology, or high performance but also tested in actual life.

The 7 ways include:
- Have a future state vision for your own engaging, fulfilling life. Figure out what it is you actually want to achieve in your life. Most people don’t do this. ,To me this is the most important first step.
- Create an action plan and take action. A vision for your life without action is just a pipe dream. Taking action is almost more important than the goal itself.
- Make it important to improve and achieve your goals. By making your goals important to yourself, there are processes in your brain that will allow you to more effectively focus on it, feel excited by it, and be motivated to achieve it.
- Align your goals and actions with your values – There is oodles of research that supports that you are more likely to achieve your goals if they are aligned with your personal values.
- Find courage – Sometimes it take finding courage to achieve your goals. Yes, you can build courage as a habit, and do so repeatedly.
- Identify with who you want to be – You are more likely to achieve your goals, if you identify with that goal or outcome right now and align your values and actions with it.
- Pay attention to your homeostasis – Your body works best if it its autonomic systems are working at their best. You are best if you are rested, have energy, have a good mindset, and your mind is clear and alert.
How to Action These
You don’t have to do all of these, even just one of them will help you achieve more. My suggestion is to select one or two and see how they work for you.
A 3-step process for implementing any of these approaches:
- Be Clear to Yourself on Your Goal(s) - Be clear to yourself what you want to improve, so you can be clear on which of these 7 factors/approaches you are going to try, why you are trying it, and what you are looking to achieve
- Try it – Once you know what you want to try, give it a really good effort. Stay at it for a few months
- Track and Adjust – Record what your goal is, why you are trying, and how you are doing at it. You can adjust along the way if your initial effort isn’t getting what you want.
