Description

Episode 11 is a practice session for you! This week I'm releasing to the podcast a recording that I did nearly 4 years ago now when my students encouraged me to record some of the mantras that I chant at the end of our Yoga classes.

At the time I was very nervous and a bit embarrassed and in fact just wanted to get it over with - sadly - rather than enjoy the experience.

This one "So Ham" pronounced "so hum" is a calming, nervous system soothing and universal mantra which translates as "I am that". It is wonderful to chant at times when we are feeling disconnected as a reminder that we are deeply connected to every living thing.

It is also said to be a natural mantra because it is present within everybody as the breath, with the sound of "so" during inhalation and "ham" during exhalation. As such, So'ham is a mantra that is chanted just by concentrating on the breath because the breath chants it naturally.

I have created a bit of a medley here as "Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha" is also part of this chant which is an invocation to  Ganesh which removes obstacles and ensures success. It is calming and grounding also.

You might play this in the evening for 5 minutes to settle before bed or with legs up the wall.

As always I'd love to hear from you:
