The blessings of the past  (29:1-25)  Chapter 29 Job remembers the “good old days.” 

1. Job was blessed in his relationship with God. (1-6)
2. Job was blessed in relationships with people. (7-17)
3. Job’s former sense of security and confidence. (18-20)
4. Job’s former leadership in the community. (21-25)

Remembering God's Faithfulness

“God doesn’t want us to ignore the past; the past should be a rudder to guide us, not an anchor to hold us back.” (Wiersbe)

Job’s Present Sufferings  (30:1-31)
“I have no respect” (30:1-15)
“I have no blessing” (30:16-23)
“I have no help” (30:24-25)
“I have no future” (30:26-28)
“I have no ministry” (30:29-31)

“I cry out to you, God, but you do not answer (verb); I stand up, but you merely look at me.” (Job 30:20)

Job Defends Himself (31:1-40)
1. He was not guilty of lust. (1-4)
2. He was not guilty of falsehood. (5-8)
3. He was not an adulterer. (9-12)
4. He was not cruel to his servants. (13-15)
5. He did not victimize the poor. (16-23)
6. He was not greedy/seek false gods. (24-28)
7. He was generally without blame. (29-34)
8. Job demands an audience with God. (35-37)
9. The conclusion of Job’s words. (38-40)

Facing  Grief (Suffering) Biblically

  1. Don’t be afraid to face any feeling you  have.
  2. Remember that God is a good listener.
  3. Don’t seek an experience, seek Jesus.
  4. Let God use your suffering to search you of any sin.
  5. Continue to cry out to God until he answers you.
  6. Meditate on the Psalms.
