Introduction: God calls us to be Seed Planters
“We will learn that success is more than leading someone to Christ. Success is living the Christian life daily, sharing the gospel, and trusting God for the results.” William Fay, Sharing Jesus Without Jesus
SHARING OUR FAITH NEEDS INTENTIONAL STEPS
1. The first intentional step is to be passionate. (2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 4:19, John 13:34, Acts 4:20)
2. The second intentional step is to be prayerful. (James 5:16, Matt.28:18-20, John 3:16, John 14:26)
3. The third intentional step is to be prepared. (2Timothy 4:2)
a. Be familiar with questions to ask.
Question 1: Do you have any kind of spiritual belief? (Acts8:26-29)
Question 2: To you, who is Jesus? (Matt. 21:10-11, Matt. 16:13-16)
Question 3: Do you believe there is a heaven and hell? (Matt.25:41-46)
Question 4: If you died tonight, where would you go? (Hebrews 9:27)
Question 5: If what you believe is not true, would you want to know it?
b. Be familiar with the Bible verses for witnessing. Mark your Bible with theses verses or write them in the front of your Bible. Write the questions from 3a in the same place. Have the person read each verse aloud. Follow with “what does this verse mean?”
· Romans 3:23
· Romans 6:23
· Romans 5:8-9
· Romans 10:9-11,13
· John 3:16
· John 14:6
· Ephesians 2:8-9
· John 3:3
· 2 Corinthians 5:15
c. If you have gotten to this next step, WOW!!! God is working in hearts. Now ask these questions:
Are you a sinner?
Do you want forgiveness of your sins?
Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
Are you willing to surrender your life to Christ?
Are you ready to invite Jesus into your life and into your heart?
Be silent and wait.
Lead the person in a salvation prayer if they are ready:
“Heavenly Father, I have sinned against You. I want forgiveness for all my sins. I believe Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Father, I want Jesus to come into my life and into my heart. Thank you for saving me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Remember: We are God’s seed planters. God’s Word does the convicting. The Holy Spirit does all the convincing.
Remember: We cannot fail. Success is found by obeying God’s Word and being available in His work.
Remember: God is always drawing people to Himself. Will we choose to join Him?
Be intentional about sharing Jesus with others. Be passionate, Be prayerful. Be prepared.
APPLICATIONS:
Plan to meet with a friend or someone from your small group and practice sharing your faith, asking the questions and sharing the Bible verses.
Who is God putting on your heart to share Jesus? A friend? A family person? A neighbor? Will you commit to pray for them for one week?
After praying for one week, how will you meet with her/him? Make a plan.
