Still More Elihu
Job 36-37
I Eli WHO?-the Prologue
- Don’t get hung up on what you don’t know and on what we aren’t told.
- God has told us all we NEED to know to understand the lessons HE has for us in this.
- Be a Berean. Know what God’s word says for yourself. Know why you believe what you believe.
- Most importantly, believe God over man’s interpretation of God all day, every day.
II Job 36
- Don’t claim to speak for God and be wary of those who do. V2
- One who is perfect in knowledge (God) IS with you. Always. V4
- Job and his frenemies ALL wrongly define God. They put Him in a God sized box based on their own experiences. We need to be careful that we don’t do the same thing! V6
- No matter what you are going through, God has a good purpose for it. V6
- It’s when Elihu is talking ABOUT God and not for God that he really begins to shine. V22-26
- God is GOD and no one is worthy of making demands on Him. V22-26
- When our problems are big, our God is bigger. V22-26
III.Job 37
- God is in the storm. V1-5
- M.Whether for correction or for His land or for love, He causes it to happen. V13
- Elihu, and you, and I…we are always going to give imperfect counsel because we are imperfect beings, but that doesn’t mean God can’t use it. (summary)
- Job needed to be reminded that the same God who held his yesterdays (that he so longed for) also holds his tomorrows. (summary)
Indescribable (V2, Chorus)
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go? Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow? Who imagined the sun and gave source to its light, yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night? None can fathom!
Indescribable! Uncontainable! You placed the stars in the sky, and You know them by name. You are amazing God!
All powerful! Untamable! Awestruck, we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim, You are amazing God!
