Topic: “Stump the Pastor” Question and Answer session with Stephen Davey

Below are synopses of the spontaneous questions that were asked, with the approximate time on the recording that each question was answered by Pastor Davey:

  1. (4:20) How would you define election?
  2. (11:52) If only Noah and his family survived the flood, how did God repopulate the earth?
  3. (13:48) How should we fashion a prayer that a loved one would be saved? Do we just pray that God would open their eyes?
  4. (16:32) 1 Thessalonians 5:23,24 says Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you to be faithful….what is the distinction, if there is one, between the soul and the spirit?
  5. (18:44) When your daughter was lost [– before she came to Christ recently as you shared in church–], did you pray “in faith” with confidence?
  6. (20:36) How do we reflect the character of Christ to the world – as we relate to homosexuals/trans/LGBTQ, etc community?
  7. (26:10) Our close family friend is “marrying” in a homosexual relationship. How far do we go in this relationship, as far as attending the wedding?
  8. (30:03) How do we advocate for Christianity in the public arena? Is it possible as a believer to serve in the political world? Are these Christian rights worthy to stand up?  (Our son is involved in leadership, serving a particular party in the upcoming election. Understanding all that is going on in other countries, do we as Christians have a responsibility to advocate through our political system to advocate for Christian values? Could we be persecuted for praying, etc? How far should we go for Christian rights?)
  9. (41:39) There’s a certain negativity toward pagan rituals, but which of the Christian rituals are ok? And why? How do we decide which rituals to keep?
