After President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, the entire country, already reeling from the tragedy of the Civil War, fell into deep mourning.  To give the citizens an opportunity to say goodbye in person, Lincoln was loaded onto a fancy train and paraded across several states, making lots of stops over the course of three weeks!  Some say that a phantom train ran by skeletons is still making that same trip year after year.
