The LORD had already done many miracles for His people, including the 10 plagues in Egypt and the exodus deliverance through the Red Sea. Yet, they chose to turn away from Him to craft the image of a false god out of gold. Aaron accommodated their rebellion as is the case with all false leaders in history and today - who fear mere men instead of fearing God (Galatians 1:10; 2 Timothy 4:2-4).
