In Matthew chapter 27, starting at verse 27 we read about how the soldiers did their job.
How the soldiers took extra pride in the attack on Jesus.
How they beat him and mocked him.
And stripped him naked and clothed him in Purple robe.
That color robe meant royality.
They wove thorns into a crown that was placed on his head like a kings crown.
Thorns are not kind.
They placed a reed (from a water source nearby) to act as a kings scepter.
A scepter was a symbol of power and status.
They would bow their knees in mocking but they will one day bow to Jesus as the real king and master.
They would spit on him and replace his garment.
We see that Evil does love being Evil.
We believe that the right person will hear the right message at the right time.
