Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt as a consequence of disobeying a direct command from God.
In the biblical story from Genesis 19, God sent angels to warn Lot and his family to flee the city of Sodom, which was about to be destroyed due to its wickedness.
The angels instructed them not to look back as they escaped.
However, Lot’s wife, overcome by curiosity or attachment to the city, looked back despite the warning. As a result, she was turned into a pillar of salt.
This story is often interpreted as a lesson about obedience, letting go of the past, and not turning back when leaving behind a life of sin or destruction.
