Description

Kelsey Long (she/her) is a runner, athlete, activist, and my ReNew Earth Running teammate. Kelsey uses running as a form of advocacy. She is co-founder of Dirtbags Run: a team of 20 BIack, Indigenous and People of Color trail runners from around the U.S. seeking to expand their presence in the sport while honoring Indigenous lands and amplifying diversity at races and beyond. She and her team move to protect and heal her people and advocate for safety, inclusivity and respect in trail running spaces.

Kelsey speaks about the ongoing need for runners of color to feel included and that they belong on trails and in the running community. She speaks about the strong and powerful women who have inspired her and those who have been her cheerleaders and support as she has grown as a runner and advocate. Kelsey is hoping to get into Western States 100 and plans to do the Javelina Hundred next year. I hope we all can see her as a race director some day in the near future. Go Kelsey!

Kelsey is Navajo and lives on the Choctaw Reservation and on Osage, O-ga-xpa, Wichita, Choctaw, Kickapoo, & Tawakoni land in Oklahoma.
