Sophie Toscan du Plantier was a 39 year old French television producer who was killed outside her holiday home near, County Cork, Ireland, on the night of December 23, 1996.
At approximately 10 in the morning on December 23, 1996, a neighbor spotted du Plantier's body lying on a path near her house West Cork. It was clear she had been brutally attacked. This case is still playing out in the European judicial system as extradition, guilt or innocence, potential ghost stories and major flaws in the handling and investigation of this case continue to keep this case relevant over 20 years later.
