Where does scripture and the Bible fit into our political discourse? With the election around the corner and so much division in our country, can we find common ground? I met someone who thinks so. Kaitlyn Schiess is a doctoral student at Duke Divinity School, and she’s the author of two books, including The Ballot and the Bible: How Scripture Has Been Used and Abused in American Politics' and Where We Go from Here. I just love the way she thinks and her perspective on politics and going back to the bible.

• [04:26] During Kaitlyn’s studies at Liberty University, the question of politics and faith was unavoidable.
• [05:07] She was figuring out what she really believed, and God directed her towards seminary.

• [35:54] Part of respecting our differences is being honest about them.
• [41:09] Unifying a divided nation starts at home and in our community.
