This is the story of Corinne and her family. In 2004 Corinne was 20 years old and living in Melbourne Australia with her boyfriend (now husband) Bodee. She had just deferred her second year of university and was about to start a new job. On the 20th June 2004 Corinne and Bodee had just returned from a short trip to Queensland to visit her Pop who was terminally ill. She was expecting to hear from her Mum soon but instead received a call by another family member. This call was to let her know that there had been a car accident. The car accident had resulted in the devastating death of her Mum (Anne) , Dad (Rick), sisters Brooke and Jade (17 & 14) and Elizabeth- a French exchange student who was staying with the family. Later that evening Corinne learned that the family had been showing Elisbeth around Dalysford on Sunday and their last stop was the Chocolate Mill , they were headed home. Her sister was driving (getting some learner driver experience) and had ended up on the wrong side of the road. The stretch of road wasn't great and it is thought she clipped the edge of the road and overcorrected, a truck was coming the other way and they had nowhere to go. No one in the car survived the crash and there was no medical intervention. Corinne today shares her family with us and how she navigated her way through such unimaginable loss. She also shares how life has evolved for her and what family life means for her today. This episode is a different angle on The Loss Mothers from what we have documented to date. However this is significant story of motherhood and loss.
