The original rule: Don't break your solemn promises.
Matthew 5:33
New Kingdom understandings from Jesus:
1. Don't make promises you can't control. (Matthew 5:34-36)
2. Let your words and promises stand alone; anything more is deceit. (Matthew 5:37)
All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
