Starting a podcast is the complete content marketing strategy in 2023 (covering all formats when you repurpose each episode).
Podcasting creates a weekly authority platform to deliver niche content to your target audience, and people love podcasts to consume content.
You can repurpose podcast sound bites and clips as reels for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
How to start a podcast tips:
1 - Pick a niche, as going broad will make it hard to rank and attract a recurring audience.
2 - Just get started. Your podcast won't have many followers early on (unless you bring them from another platform), use the early episodes to work on your presenting craft and play the long game.
3 - Record each episode in video format (I use my Mac Air, Rode mic and Camtasia - total rookie), but the video goes on YouTube, the audio to Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon etc via Buzzsprout, and then we take 60 second (or less) clips for Shorts and reels to repurpose content - and I get text transcribed at Rev.com.
4 - Podcast because you want to, it needs to be fun and a commercial agenda will make it hard to show up long-term as it takes time to get traction.
5 - Collaborate and invite guests on your podcast for a variety of different expertise.
