Description

Labor Day is a good time to reflect on this question– What is your son’s perspective on work?

The Bible makes it clear that we should do everything with excellence. Colossians 3:23 says “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” But at the same time, Scripture warns that idolizing money and success leads to ruin. How can you teach your son to view work in a healthy way?

One way is to take a family Sabbath. Set aside one day each week to put work and screens aside. You can also have your son help you with projects around the house, like fixing the car or building a shed. He’ll learn practical skills, build confidence, and see real-time results of a job well done.
