“Valentine’s Day! Yuck!”
Is this the type of response you hear when you ask your son about Valentine’s Day? We typically think the holiday is “girlie” and centered around flowers and chocolate. However, Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to remind your son of Jesus’s love for us and the strength it took for Him to go to the cross because of His love for humanity.
When referred to in the Bible, love isn’t the romantic type. Instead, biblical love shows courage and sacrifice. Jesus put our needs before His desires. And, on our worst day, God loves us unconditionally. This is the type of love we crave. And how we want to love others.
Read 1 Cor 13, the love chapter, with your son today. Then discuss the attributes of Godly love—the only love that is everlasting.
