Brittany Aquart is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist, and mom of two, one of whom had a NICU stay.

• The part of our brain that makes decisions, (executive function), and that focuses on things like planning, and organizing, basically goes offline when you’re working from a fight-or-flight response. It’s no surprise that things can go by the wayside (like remembering to make follow up appts) when you’re dealing with something as life changing as a NICU experience. 
• Give yourself a couple weeks. The early intervention therapy will be there. Take the first few weeks to build that connection you desire with your baby.
