Originally from Zambia, Brenda Namumba is a post-doctoral fellow in physics, specializing in astronomy. Her research at the Radio Astronomy Observatory of South Africa is devoted to analyzing star formation in dwarf galaxies with the MeerKAT telescope. With women underrepresented in her field, Brenda Namumba hopes to change mindsets and inspire more young girls in Africa to pursue a career in astrophysics.
She is one of the 20 African women researchers rewarded for the excellence of their scientific work through the For Women in Science Young Talents Program for Sub-Saharan Africa, led by The Fondation L’Oréal and UNESCO.
