DAY 260 — THE FIRST SIGN
📖 John 2

At a wedding in Cana, the wine runs out—and Jesus performs His first recorded sign in John’s Gospel.

But the point was never just the wine.

John tells us that through this sign, Jesus “manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him.”

The miracle pointed beyond itself.

Jesus took water used for ceremonial purification and turned it into something better. He was showing that something greater had arrived.

The Messiah was here.

The old was giving way to the new. Cleansing, joy, forgiveness, and access to God would ultimately be found in Christ.

And the servants teach us something important too: they simply did what Jesus told them to do.

They did not know the outcome.

They just obeyed.

That is faith.

The sign was never meant to make people stop at the miracle—it was meant to make them see the Messiah.

So do not just ask, “What can Jesus do for me?”

Ask, “Who is Jesus?”

He is the Creator.
He is the Messiah.
He is the Son of God.
And He is worthy of our trust and obedience.
