DAY 285 — “IT IS FINISHED”
📖 Matthew 27 | Story of Scripture Podcast
Three words that changed eternity:
“IT IS FINISHED.”
When Jesus spoke those words from the cross, He wasn't announcing defeat. He was declaring victory!
In Matthew 27, we witness the darkest day in human history become the greatest demonstration of God's love and grace.
The innocent Son of God was condemned so the guilty could be forgiven. The King of kings was mocked, beaten, and crucified. And as Jesus hung upon the cross, He bore the judgment our sins deserved.
The cross wasn't an accident. It was God's plan of redemption.
When Jesus died, the temple curtain was torn from top to bottom, declaring that through His sacrifice, the way into God's presence had been opened.
And when He cried, "It is finished," the work of atonement was complete.
✅ The penalty for sin had been paid.
✅ God's justice had been satisfied.
✅ The perfect sacrifice had been offered.
✅ The way to reconciliation with God had been opened.
Here's the truth we cannot afford to miss:
Jesus didn't die simply to make salvation possible through our good works. He accomplished everything necessary to save those who repent and believe in Him.
We cannot earn what Christ has already purchased.
We cannot add to what He has already finished.
And we cannot save ourselves through religious activity, morality, or personal effort.
Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone!
The cross reminds us that our sin is far more serious than we realize, but God's grace in Jesus Christ is far greater than we could ever deserve.
And here's the beautiful part...
The cross wasn't the end of the story. The resurrection was coming!
🎙️ Join me for Day 285 of The Story of Scripture as we walk through Matthew 27 and discover why the greatest victory in history was accomplished through the death of Jesus Christ.
The gospel isn't about what we can do to reach God. It's about what Jesus Christ has already done to bring sinners to Him.
