Day 114 — “Speak, Lord” (1 Samuel 3)
God is still speaking… the question is, are we listening?
In 1 Samuel 3, we’re brought into a quiet moment in the night—a young boy lying down, unaware that his life is about to change. Samuel hears his name called, but he doesn’t yet recognize the voice of the Lord.
And maybe that’s where many of us are.
God is speaking, but we’ve become so accustomed to noise that we struggle to recognize His voice in the stillness.
Samuel had to learn something that every follower of God must learn:
the voice of God is not always loud—but it is always clear to the listening heart.
Before God ever used Samuel to speak to a nation, He first taught him how to listen in private.
Before there was influence, there was intimacy.
Before there was leadership, there was surrender.
That’s the pattern God still uses.
We often want direction, clarity, and purpose—but we cannot have those things apart from a heart that is willing to slow down, tune in, and obey.
Because hearing God is not just about recognition—it’s about response.
When Samuel finally understands what’s happening, his answer becomes one of the most powerful prayers in all of Scripture:
“Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.”
Not just, “Speak, Lord”—but “your servant hears.”
A posture of humility.
A readiness to obey.
A life that says yes before the instruction is even given.
That is where faithful leadership begins.
Today, take a moment to step away from the noise.
Open your heart.
Position your life before the Lord.
And pray:
“Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.”
