Priscilla is an incredible woman who literally lived in a shed with no running water as a child after emigrating to the US from Brazil. She endured endless abuse and was forced into joining a gang. The only reason she’s alive today is because she escaped to Florida. Eventually, she moved back to Albuquerque and married her high school crush. (They’re still married to this day!) Priscilla's story is incredibly moving, and she recently published her memoir, Unravelling Passion.
She became a wildly successful entrepreneur and owns one of the biggest nail salons in Albuquerque. Over the years of hiring hundreds of young women, she was horrified at how many had lived through the same trauma: sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She made it her mission to hire young women with no training, and watch their self-worth blossom as they learned to do nails, grew their businesses, and learn how special they truly are. Priscilla embodies how your misery can be your ministry, and you can thrive no matter how horrible your past circumstances were.
She has started a non-profit organization to build a beauty school for teens and women who have been rescued from trafficking. Once they graduate, she will give them jobs and help them thrive despite the horrific trauma they have been through. Priscilla’s mission is to help women who have had a tough go of it fight for a better future by building their own businesses in the beauty industry.
