Always be joyful. Does that mean we demonstrate a shallow, carefree happiness and smile to conceal grief ? No. The Scriptures here refer to displaying the deep-seated joy drawn from our trust and obedience in God and his Word, a joy given and maintained in us by Christ. This is the joy that comes from knowing that, in every circumstance, God is holding us, leading us, and even using difficulties for our good.
