For years Molly was a ballet dancer, but at 14 years old she switched sports and Molly Rogers fell in love with a sport that’s male dominated and one that takes a mindset to not let a practice or a competition break you. It can be tough, but she presents tougher and is ready to win a competition with an arm bar or guillotine. Every single day Molly can be found on a Jiujitsu mat. When she first started, it was for the aspect of self defense and she advanced quickly — with good kicks. Jiujitsu is a humbling sport according to Molly, she says it will break your ego. We talk mental health in this episode and Molly shares some aspects of coping with anxiety and how that creeps onto the mat. “Don’t let day one or day five intimidate or defeat you,” is a bit of advice that she shares. If her head’s not in the fight, then she can’t win it. But Molly wins because of her mindset and how she speaks positivity like “You’ve done this, you’ll be okay.” We dive into some of her experience and strategy and we talk dating, women in the sport she admires and some of her favorite gear.Molly encourages parents to look into this sport for their kids. She sees patience and self control begin to form in the kids she teaches and thinks it translates back to home. It’s good physical exercise and the environment is a healthy place for kids. Molly's dedication and talent are taking her places and she is someone to watch.Tune in!The song “STOMP” is used by permission of artist Donica Knight Holdman and Jim Huff
