For years my family has used an Advent calendar to mark the days leading up to Christmas. Some have been simple countdowns and others brought to you by Lego, but we’ve always struggled to find a telling of the Christmas story to spark a conversation with our boys at the breakfast or dinner table. So I decided, I’d write one. And I want to share it with you.
I want to draw this story out, one little piece each day from now until Christmas Eve. And I’ve invited my friend and artist Adam Trest to help me draw it out. Literally. As you listen to the story set to Thomas Steinwinder’s beautiful music, you’re going to get to watch Adam draw a piece of the story each day too.
And we’ll leave you with a question to consider each day, with others or on your own. I think if we experience this story this way, we’ll all wake up Christmas morning ready for a new life to begin. It’s going to be lots of fun sitting with this story in all these ways, so I hope you’ll join us.
