It's striking how often similar language and perspectives appear before and after Jesus in the scriptures, but never come out of Jesus' mouth. That's maybe no clearer than in the ways scripture talks about women. So much of what is said by those not named Jesus has shaped women's roles in The Church to the detriment of the approach, respect, and relationship Jesus had with women in his community. All we can ask is, "Why?"
