I've been pulling these one-off episodes together this summer and noticed a theme (maybe it's stuck in my subconscious...): a need for reconciliation. That's the thread between Abraham and Isaac, Jonah, Elisha, and others. We have a deep need for (and aversion to) reconciliation.
