If there was one book in the Bible a good little church kid wasn't supposed to ever read, it was Song of Songs, that book of "erotica" right in the middle of the Bible...who put that in here? I'd argue that question is the very reason we need to stop ignoring it. It's just about the only book in the Bible that makes it seem okay to enjoy the fact that we all have bodies.
And what it embodies more than anything (see what I did there?) is that recognizing the worth, value, and beauty in our bodies is good and necessary to making sure we care about others around us.
"You've Never Read This," is a new series from God Knows Where looking at stories in our scriptures that fall through the cracks. In this series, we're looking at a dozen or so stories that never show up in the Revised Common Lectionary used by many mainline Protestant Churches, including the one I used to pastor. Join us as we try to figure why we avoid or ignore these stories and the (surprising) wisdom they have for us.
DON'T FORGET! You can leave us a rating or review wherever you're listening to the show! And tell a friend about God Knows Where too!
