 29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! (Acts 5:29)

We've heard this growing up in Christ... "Obedience is greater than sacrifice".

Obedience is God is very important as we followers of Jesus.

You'll see this over and over again in scripture.

Here are 5 benefits of Obedience according to the word of God.

#1 Obedience makes you a disciple.

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.(John 8:31)

#2 Obedience protects us.

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25)

The reason why the Lord gives us instruction.. is for our protection.

#3 Obedience shows our love for God.

5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. (1 John 2:5-6)

Truly our act of obeying God, shows our love for God.

#4 Obedience brings blessings.

1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
    who walk in obedience to him. (Psalm 128:1)

When we obey God, we are BLESSED!

#5 Obedience reveals our heart.

Obedience to God is worship to God.

Obedience will test us.

1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied. (Genesis 22:1)

The Lord allows wilderness seasons to test us, humble us and know what's in our heart.

2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. (Deuteronomy 8:2)

These tests allow us to really KNOW if we can trust God.

10 I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:10)

Obedience allows us to also WALK with God...

If there's anything you can learn from all this. 

It's walking with God.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6:8-9)

Be like Noah.

Walk with God!
