In Daniel 10, the prophet has a vision of a glorious man who reveals himself as a heavenly being sent in response to Daniel's prayers. This celestial being provides insights into the spiritual warfare taking place behind the scenes and the challenges that lie ahead for God's people. He mentions the prince of Persia and the prince of Greece as opposing forces and reassures Daniel that Michael, the archangel, is their protector. This chapter sets the stage for the prophecies in the following chapters.
Daniel 11 continues with a detailed prophecy about the succession of kings and events in the Persian and Hellenistic empires, with a particular focus on the actions of a "king of the North" and a "king of the South." The prophecy then shifts to describe a future ruler who will defile the temple and set up the "abomination of desolation," a reference also found in Jesus' teachings about the end times. The chapter culminates in a time of trouble and conflict, leading to the ultimate victory of God's people.
Chapter 12 concludes the book of Daniel with a focus on the end times. It mentions a time of great distress, such as never before seen, but also the deliverance of God's people. The resurrection of the dead is prophesied, with some rising to everlasting life and others to everlasting contempt. Daniel is instructed to seal up the book until the time of the end when knowledge will increase. The wise shall understand the prophecies, but the wicked will continue in their wickedness.
These chapters in the book of Daniel provide intricate prophecies and visions related to the end times, the spiritual battles at play, and the ultimate triumph of God's kingdom. They emphasize the importance of spiritual insight, knowledge, and perseverance in the face of trials and tribulations.
