If every intuition or every thought you have is wrong, then the opposite must be right!
In this episode of the David Spisak Show, David shares about the importance of counterintuitive thinking using examples from the hilarious sitcom, Seinfeld.
What we discuss in this episode:
- There is a very real power that is created when thinking and doing the opposite of what intuition tells you.
- By the time your 5 years old, you've heard the word "no" over 500,000 times.
- In contrast, children only hear the word "yes" less than half of that.
- We're also taught to color inside the lines; to stay within the confines of what someone else has created. Similarly we are taught to stand in line, sit in rows, and learn what we're told to learn.
- That's not necessarily going to embolden your thinking or enhance your thinking.
- Most people would say they have not achieved the life they want — the best version of themselves that they can be.
- Whether you are seeking life, spiritual, or financial success, the reality is this: Whatever blueprint you've been using that keeps you on a roadmap, at some point you will hit a roadblock.
- Life is too short.
- Many people who have experienced failure have a greater ability to bounce back and achieve more.
- When we don't understand something we're prone to thinking it's BS. Metaverse, crypto, NFTs, Web 3.0 and so on are all examples of things that people don't understand and are writing off when in reality, people are already spending $2Billion per month on NFTs.
- We're taught to think things we don't understand are not correct, but that would be "intuitive" thinking.
- Successful people understand that the power of failure leads to success. There is no success without it. There are no books on Amazon about the world's greatest conformists. But there are hundreds of books about rule breakers.
- Take time today to ask yourself, am I a conformist or am I a rule breaker? Which one do I want to be? Which one of those two is less likely to have less stress, more successful and higher levels of fulfilment?
