- The importance of understanding your own “triggers” and what makes you put your guard-up and what you can do to avoid misunderstandings and miscommunications.
- The importance of REALLY recognizing when you and another person are misaligned. It is SO common, (and SO unhealthy) for us to, (all along the course of getting to know someone), hope and dream for ‘her’ and for ‘things’ to be a certain way, when they really aren’t.
- The necessity of self-assessment and self-awareness in order to figure out what you want and need in a relationship; AND, be open to the possibility that those things you think you need and want may change and evolve.
- How much it matters that two people are, (as much as possible), in very similar points in their lives as they try to enter into a relationship with one another, (i.,e., just divorcing, the messy middle, new to dating, been out for several years, in an open marriage, not out to anyone yet, etc.).
