She was in bed a lot, but got up to sit with me on the couch by the window. I looked at her fuzzy little head and thought how raw and beautiful she looked without her hair. She said to me, “Where are my strengths? I wish I had some strengths?” It was a thing she and my father did; they added a plural to certain words to make them sound cute, like an endearment. My dad would sign his cards to her “I love you muches.” She already knew she could not do it. She could not heal. And I could not help her. I didn't know it then, but that day, my calling was born. And now I’m the same age she was when she died. And she’s telling me to help people to do what she could not do, find their "strengths." I had to lose her to learn how to help myself and others. And she had to go to teach me. I'm bringing together a few people who want to work on their life stories in an incubator for breakthroughs. It's free for founding members.
