  2. How and why those differences are important, and
  3. 8 Strategies to lead more skillfully and effectively

8 Strategies to navigate more skillfully:

  1. Embrace a Growth Mindset: When we acknowledge ambiguity and uncertainty are a part of life. When we can let go of perfectionism and seeking the "right answer" and embrace the discomfort of 'not knowing' we can see challenges as opportunities. When we focus on learning and growth it motivates us to seek out new perspectives, gather alternate opinions, and continuously expand our knowledge, skills and experiences.
  2. Foster Open Communication: Cultivating a culture of open, honest, transparent and clear communication can reduce confusion and misunderstandings. Create feedback channels, keep people informed, be open to their ideas, concerns, and perspectives. Why? It builds trust and credibility and reduces anxiety and stress.
  3. Develop Adaptive Decision-Making Skills: In ambiguous and uncertain situations, it's essential to make decisions based on the available information you have. Break problems down to small steps. Be flexible, open and prepared to adjust the course of action or the outcome.
  4. Create a Supportive Network: Surround yourself with mentors, trusted advisors, and a supportive network of peers or coach with experience navigating ambiguity and uncertainty. Learn from their experiences, seek guidance when needed, and leverage their expertise to make better-informed decisions.
  5. Emphasize Agility and Experimentation: Encourage a culture of agility and experimentation within the team. Embrace iterative approaches, where you try, test and learn from your actions which allows you to adapt and make course corrections more quickly.
  6. Focus on what you can control: Focusing on what you can control (your boundaries, thoughts and actions, goals you set, what you give your energy to, how you speak to yourself and how you handle challenges) can help you let go of what you can't control and lead much more effectively.
  7. Put on Your Oxygen Mask:  Attend to your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs and find ways to take care of yourself that work for you. Build your mental fitness  (check out E11), for tools you can choose from.
