Coming out of a home that was an emotional "Armeggeddon", growing up in a neighborhood where at first he was a target, Rich spent years learning about conflict, as he got his MSW, sought controlled conflict through martial arts, studied and practiced mediation and became a certified coach. The breakthrough was the realization that conflict is vital, that out of conflict comes creativity. When we set the tone for the conflict and make it safe to explore, new understanding emerges and with new understanding we create. Working in this field has led Rich to develop workshops on intimacy which is all about managing dynamics that are destructive to trust and caring. When we learn to manage what we are putting out in a relationship and make it safer for our partner, the easier it is to develop intimacy which is so grounded in safety.
