Description

It’s an actor’s wildest dream to be working regularly on a popular series on a major network.  But what happens when the residual checks you receive from streaming can’t even buy you a bottle of water?  Along with your fellow actors, you strike.  While this form of resistance and demonstration isn’t new, it’s been more than half a century since SAG hit the picket lines.  Bernard Gilbert aka Suede da Masseuse on The Chi breaks down the actor’s strike and what that means for the craft, the industry and the role of the Black actor.  Alicia explores the duality of wanting to be participating in the work AND standing up for what is right to move the industry forward positively.  We discuss how love can make you a great artist.  How to be building and bettering in down times.  And why Bernard stands (and stans) hard for Fran!  Y’all betta catch up on these podcasts while your favorite shows are on hiatus!
