In this week's episode I speak with Liz Tough who is a physiotherapist and also a stretch coach. In this fascinating discussion we talk about what it means to stretch, why it is important to stretch your muscles and when you should stretch. We discuss why it is important sometimes to stretch a muscle over resting it and how relaxing it can be to stretch. Liz will teach all of the things you don't know about stretching and will bust some myths that you think you know. Liz Tough is a highly qualified and experienced physiotherapist and now works as a specialist injury rehabilitator, pain specialist and stretch coach. She runs her own clinic and her clients include top flight rugby clubs, elite sportspeople as well as everyday clients. With over 34 years in this field, Liz has trained in many established and new evidence-based treatments and maintains an up to date knowledge of emerging research and treatments.
Using her hands on approach, Liz combines more traditional physiotherapy techniques, massage therapy, exercise and stretching with cutting-edge pain relief technology, such as shock wave therapy, electro needling, compression therapy and ice therapy.
Her comprehensive knowledge of the kinetic chain and effects of injury and pain to the whole body, including soft tissue injuries such as muscle tears, tendons, ligament and nerve issues, as well as range of movement dysfunctions and postural issues means she can take a holistic approach to rehabilitation and recovery.
